The federal Fair Housing Act and the South Carolina Fair Housing Law make it illegal to discriminate in the sale, rental, or financing of housing because of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin. We follow both, and we support equal housing opportunity.
How we write about neighborhoods
We describe property and places: what homes cost to own, the rules a community sets, flood zones, beach access, distances, and amenities. We don't describe neighborhoods by the people who live there or tell anyone where they should or shouldn't live. When you ask about schools, we point you to the school district's own attendance zone tools. Where a community is legally restricted to residents 55 and older, we say so because it's a rule of the property.
If you think you've been treated unfairly
You can file a complaint with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development or the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission, which enforces the state law. You can also contact us at 9861000@gmail.com.
